Children’s early social development depends on early experiences with others. Their
intrinsic creativity depends on your responses to how they interpret their world. If you
can give them a flexible framework, you will see them fly; they will soar, they will be
themselves in groups, with you, in pairs and alone. Observe these moment and
nurture it. Encourage change.
Abandon your predictions of a structured activity when a child is spontaneous. Let
them go off-piste on their multi-sensory journey - go with them! All that you think you
know, all that you studied, all that you achieved - yes, retain this, but then throw it to
the free winds and go with the flow. Be ready for every change. Always. You are no
longer an educator, a parent or carer. You are an artist. Embrace the children by being together in that creative practice. You will widen your own development and nurture shared life learning too.
Young children never judge. They sense, experience, absorb and respond to their
environment. Children are creatures of habits, masters of repetition and educators of
wisdom from deeply personal experiences. Notice - really notice what you do and
how you do it, then stand back and observe their response. Respect.
Young children are involved in an intense time of self-discovery. They are capable of
absorbing enormous amounts of information. Observe closely - they communicate
with a glance, a tiny move, a little sigh. Musical play extends all faculties. Children
are but a young flower. Enable their unique journey so they can be strong, flourish
and grow. The benefits to all will be absolute. Musical play awakens the muscular,
the aural, the emotions and the intellectual. Music with movement, art and adventure
binds them all and is joyful.
The transferral skills through music and other art forms are profound. Music is the
most logical communicative route for a young child - they can hear before birth. They
are rhythmically breathing, naturally melodic, intrinsically conversational and
ultimately sociable, confident and unique. Be wide awake, become aware, nurture a
sense of your worlds together. Let children be what they are meant to be.
